The zoo was quite empty due to the rain. My father had a membership card from his company that allowed free entry. To save more money, we took our own food and drinks.

We were eager to see how the white tigers were doing after the horrific incident last month. They appeared fine. We had our lunch or nasi lemak and sandwiches at the elephants' exhibit. The elephants were having their lunch as well. The other important attraction that we went to see was Rainforest Kidzworld. Finally we have a proper kids' attraction to replace the dilapidated Children's World Playland. We took a long break there and enjoyed some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. We also managed to catch two animal shows, Rainforest Fights Back! and Splash Safari Show.

We ended our visit with a second look at the white tigers and were pleasantly surprised to see them frolicking and splashing about in the moat. Then we left the zoo just before closing time to catch the crowded 138 bus back to Ang Mo Kio.

Week Six

Week Six has just ended. It is very fun and interesting to play. I confess that I have never been so addicted to a game before! First, I will be having a CATS presentation on Monday. We are completely ready for it and I'm confident that the presentation will go off smoothly and bring the module to a close.

On Wednesday, I'll be taking the Location Video Production (locvid) test. It is 35% of the total score. On Thursday, I will be having the the biggest presentation so far, the major project for three modules. The powerpoint presentation is complete, but we are having problems with the ads and website. Anyway, we'll be meeting Mr William to discuss and practise on Tuesday.

After Thursday, the stress will be mostly gone. There will only be two more tests before the holidays begin in a month.

Sam's Birthday

Yesterday was Sam's birthday and he invited us all out for lunch. We met at Tampines Mall at 12.30pm. I gave him a card on behalf of myself and Bala, and a model of a blue Mini Cooper. Soon after, Jane arrived followed by Faatihah. We waited nearly an hour and even had ice cream before Bala arrived. We then then took the train to City Hall, met Wilson and walked to Marina Square.

There was a Seoul garden there so I suggested we dine there to save money. The bill was $162 for six. We had a feast that lasted nearly three hours, consuming plates of chicken strips and seafood. Wilson was determined to break his previous record of eating the most shellfish!

After lunch, we headed to the Asus eePC fair where Sam pre-ordered one for $888. He said 'it is a lucky present for myself'. Amazingly feeling hungry again, we bought donuts. They were totally full of flavour. Jane then bade us farewell and Faatihah left soon after. The rest of us took the shuttle bus to City Hall where 130 brought us back to AMK Hub. 'Supper' was coke and fries at Mcdonald's and then we went home after thanking Sam for the wonderful day.

New Term

The new Term is now into its second week. I've got my logo/brochure project and marketing test grades. I got Es for the former and 20.5/30 for the latter. It was a surprise as I had expected to pass the project and fail the test. But nevermind. I will work harder to achieve the grades I want. Our Marketing Project is entering its final phase. The script for the LocVid Final Project is also ready. We have also fixed the interview time with the strategic planner. The Medisoc debate is tomorrow and my script is as polished as it can be. But I'll still try to find more sources. I'll get my Photoshop-Dreamweaver test results tomorrow. Hope I've done well.

What kind of food am I?

You Are a Turkey Sandwich

Conservative and a bit shy, you tend to stick with what you know and trust.

You are very introverted, and you prefer to blend in whenever possible.

Though you may be hard to know well, anyone who does know you considers you a true friend.

Your best friend: The Ham Sandwich

Your mortal enemy: The Tuna Fish Sandwich

What Kind of Sandwich Are You?

What Your Pizza Reveals

Your appetite is pretty average. We sat in a circle in LT73 and played wacko. Then at 3.30pm, we took our bags and went to the large room next to the karate training area.

After our bags were placed properly, we started to plan and practise our cheers and skit. At 6pm, we washed up and had dinner in canteen 2. After dinner, we continued practicing our skit and cheers until 9pm, when we moved to the sports track and set up the telescopes to observe the sky. We were able to spot Jupiter.

At 12mn, we moved to block 50 to play hide and seek. The place was very dark and scary. But I was one of the last 7 to be caught because we hid along the corridor sides by lying flat against the wall. After everyone was found, it was lights out.

We woke up at 7am the next day. Breakfast was very slow. The milo was horrible because no sugar had been added. After breakfast, we went to LT73 to have a lecture. After the lecture, we had a Q&A session. The points we won were later used in an auction to buy items based only on their description. One group bid badly and spent 70 points on a roll of toilet paper.

We then paused for lunch. At 2pm, we started the series of games with a telematch. The games continued until 7pm. We then washed up and had dinner in Canteen 1. Then we went to LT73 to play the mascot game. We had to go around looking for scrap materials for our spongebob squarepants and fred flintstone. The 'fashion parade' at the end was hilarious and we all took photos. We then watched Southpark and Kung Fu Panda before retiring for the night at 4am.

We woke up at 8am and had breakfast. Then we had a debrief before the camp was declared closed at 10am. I went home straightaway for a good rest.

The June Break

The June break has been quite ok. Luckily most of them are group work and we can share the responsibilities and get work done. Projects like logo designing and brochure designing are nearing completion while filming and media projects are just getting off the ground.

To all my JC friends, don't even think 1 minute that poly students are slackers. Competition for entrance to courses is steep and the work produced needs to be of a very high standard. Just because we have laptops and don't wear uniforms doesn't mean that life is relaxing.

I would like to thank all my classmates in T103 for all their help and encouragement and I in turn offer my help and encouragement to them as well. To our Anderson library gang, I wish you every success in your O Levels and ITE exams. We met at Bishan MRT station and took the train to Newton where we boarded 171 to the reserve. It was raining slightly but we didn't bother about it. The first stretch was extremely steep, and I struggled to the top. George just powered all the way to the top and kept looking down towards us and saying "You okay?"

The path after that was relatively smooth until we arrived at the start of the Summit Trail. It was a steep flight of stairs. Mrs Muthu decided to walk up via the longer winding path, but the rest of us went with the stairs. It was very tiring but we finally made it. We rested for a few minutes and breathed it the cool, clean air. Then we went down by a gentle slope. Mrs Muthu departed because she was expecting visitors at home. George, Kee Yong and me went to Killiney Kopitiam for lunch. George had Teochew Seafood Porridge while Kee Yong and I had Hokkien Mee. After lunch, George went off to Sim Lim. Kee Yong and I took 170 to Kranji where we caught the train home. It was the first time in 5 years that I had climbed Buki Timah and it was a refreshing experience.

Jane's Birthday

Today is Jane's birthday, so Happy Birthday Jane! I went to Anderson to meet up with Jane, Wilson and Faatihah. I was a bit disappointed that Jody couldn't come but never mind. We walked to the MRT station and took the train to J8. There we went to Swenson's and waited for Sam. He turned up shortly after with a huge smile. He kept smiling even after we had been seated. It was abit scary. Sam later explained that he had a 'smiling' class and that he was practising his smiles!

Sam, Jane and Wilson ordered fish and chip meals complete with soup and dessert while Faatihah and I ordered baked chicken rice. The food was excellent and we spent a long time chatting about our present studies. After eating we took a short walk to the bus interchange where I took bus 52 to ngee ann for my make-up lesson. Sam and the rest went somewhere else for ice-cream.

Finally, I would like to thank Mr Douglas for kindly allowing me to attend the lesson an hour later so that I could go to Jane's birthday lunch.

Life at Ngee Ann

My first week of poly life has passed and I think it went pretty well. The lecturers are entertaining and interesting. My classmates are very dedicated to the course. This is good news because we have to work in groups to complete most of our projects. The facilities are excellent. The computer lab looks like a gaming centre with dim lights and dark walls. The food in the canteen is very good but it gets too crowded sometimes. Overall, its fine and I look forward to the work ahead.

Library Farewell Party

The library farewell party was held today at in the IR at 3pm. Ms Lau had ordered mee siam mee goreng and nuggets. The mee goreng was very good and the nuggets were wiped out. After eating it was speech time. Most of them just said a few sentences expressing their appreciation. Siva surprised us by reading a poem about the library. You know sometimes I think she loves the library too much!

They were all presented with souvenirs handmade by Meishi. Then I rose to make a short speech wishing the sec 4s all the best in their o levels and the sec 3s in their new committee positions. By popular demand Sam also made a short speech repeating what I had said earlier. Then the party ended with the table cleared and the chairs rearranged.

I suggested that the committee and us have a farewell dinner later. Sam agreed and Din wanted to come along. So we went to Ramen 10 in Jubilee for dinner. The food was great and the waitress was Sam's senior! We had a fun time talking and joking. Then just before we left we had a group photograph taken. I'm sure gonna miss you guys!

Congrats to New Library Committee!

The election results have been announced. Even though attendance was small it helped by making it easier to interact with other librarians.

On the first day I arrived at 8.30am. The rest started arriving at around 9.30am. As Mr Esfan was using the IR room we went to the 1/4 classroom for our icebreaker activities. We started with chop chilli chop and concentration games. Then we split them into two groups and told them to come up with group names and cheers. Siva's group was named "Anansi" but had a dreadful cheer that sounded more like a poem. Zhi Hui's group was called "Iceman" but had a nice cheer although it was copied from the Sec 3 camp.

At 12pm we had lunch ordered from KFC. The quality of chicken had declined and it was too salty. After lunch we charades which was so fun that it went on for 2 hours instead of one. As it was raining very heavily water wars was cancelled and captain's ball held in the hall. But the game was cut short by basketballers who edged the librarians out of the courts.

At 6.15pm I accompanied Ashraf to the market to get muslim food while Wilson collected the chicken rice and drinks. We all had a hearty dinner and then proceede with the impromptu performance. Ashraf's Mr Bean impersonation was very funny and drew laughter from everyone. We then proceeded to watch Mr Bean and the thriller Disturbia. The movie was so enthralling that not even one person was sleeping; all were wide awake. At 12.30am we played sardines. Wilson proved to be elusive and only Sherwin and Ashraf found him.

At 1am we all went to bed. At around 2.30am an alarm went off. We initially thought it was Mrs Goh's car alarm. But when police showed up at our school we realised that the school's alarm had gone off. The policemen asked Wilson some questions and then left. We were too tired to ask questions and quickly fell asleep.

Sam and I woke up at 5am and went down to the library. We were soon joined by the rest of the boys. We spent the next hour watching Mr Bean dvds. At 7am I washed up and prepared breakfast with Koon Ming. Everyone had milo and biscuits. We then waited for the graffiti trainers who arrived at 9am. We were quite enthralled with the amazing effects produced by spray paint. The two groups then proceeded to spray the two banner designs chosen earlier.
Meanwhile I went opposite to collect the fried rice ordered by George. After a hearty lunch we went to the IR to play taboo for 2 hours. Then at 4pm Meishi ran her treasure hunt. Finally at 6pm we went to the canteen to start the barbecue. Din had the fire going already. Soon satays and otahs were on the grill. The shrimp otah tasted very nice. Siva's father arrived and we had an astronomy lesson while Din and Sam prepared the chicken wings. When we returned the chicken wings were ready and Sam had also cooked the boiled shrimp. The food was delicious and Din was widely praised for his expertise.

At 10.30pm we started the movie marathon with the Korean movie Wishing Stairs. Then we watched the last Mr Bean dvd. At 12.45am we had our nightwalk. Jody and I stayed at the library and observed the buildings while they went on their nightwalk. After that they all returned to the library where the movie marathon continued with Evan Almighty. However everyone soon fell asleep and I switched the movie off.

We woke up at about 7.30am. The library was cleaned and the chairs reordered in the IR. Bags were packed as breakfast was served. At 9am survey forms were filled and election votes cast. Finally after a group photo Mrs Goh dismissed the campers at 9.30am.

The committee except Faatihah went to Seoul Garden at Causeway Point for lunch. The food was delicious. After returning to the library we took our bags and left for home but not before promising to keep in touch.

Notebook Exhibition at NP

I went today with my father to NP to buy the Apple Macbook. When we arrived there some friendly guides pointed out the convention centre to us. We walked slowly up the hill and entered the convention centre. A guy immediately came up to us and asked "Would you like to buy Acer?" I replied " I'm buying Apple" and he moved off straightaway. We went to the Sapura booth where a final-year student Daniel showed us the different models. I took the order form and filled it up indicating that I wanted a black macbook. However when we got to the payment and collection counter at the basement we were told that the black model was sold out and that new stock would arrive on Monday. So we just put down a $50 deposit for the $2662 machine. They said they will call me to come down and collect the notebook. We left the centre and walked to the bus stop. I looked at a map and found that the FMS block is right next to the centre and is quite close to the bus stop.

IT Show 2008

Yesterday I went to the IT Show with George and the rest of the gang. I wanted to buy a Linksys router to set up a wireless network. I went to school at 10am. I met Rosie and Sam helping George check inventory of old printers in the LAN room. Then we returned to the library where we talked about what had happened in the years since Rosie had left. She had a friend who was from NP and she gave quite a few tips about the NP environment. Bala came at around 12.50pm.

At noon we went opposite for lunch. Rosie left with her friend to collect her A level results. After lunch we returned to the library. We spent most of the time reading and lazing around until 3pm. Bala and I ventured across to buy cheese fries. Luckily the security guards allowed him in again. At 5pm We decided to meet the others at City Hall MRT station instead of the school. We went to Funan to compare prices. Then I found out that Linksys routers are not Mac compatible. I had no choice but to buy D Link.

We met the rest at the station and went for dinner at Funan. Then we took the shuttle bus to Suntec City. We went straight to Hall 6 where I managed to buy a D Link router for $59. George bought a toner cartridge for $64. The rest simply collected brochures to compare and buy later. We ate supper at Burger King at Marina Square. Then we parted and I arrived home at 11.15pm.

Lunch in my House

Yesterday, Bala, Soon Huat, Nicholas, Shermern and Sam came to my house for lunch. The menu was lemon chicken, prawn sambal, salad and fried chicken wings. Everyone ate heartily.

We then adjourned to my room for a game of Monopoly. Shermern and Nicholas decided to play aviation videos on Youtube. They had to leave at 4pm for church services. Our monopoly game went quite well. Sam, Bala and I quickly became rich while Soon Huat struggled and was the first to be bankrupted. Sam became bankrupt shortly after. I fought on for another 20 minutes before finally giving up to Bala at 5.50pm.

We then had pizza and talked. Then my sister came back from swimming class and they were quite engrossed in her antics and words. We continually extended the talk fest all the way until 10pm! Then we had hot dog sandwiches. Bala put too much chilli sauce and had sauce running down everywhere! Finally at 10.30pm, we gathered in the hall where we had a photo taken to preserve this day. Then I bade farewell to them and they thanked me for my hospitality. It was a funfilled day.

Got Enrolment Package

I got my enrolment package today. First we met Jane at Hougang bus interchange. Then we took 147 to his house. It was located on the 10th floor and had the same layout as Nicholas' flat. Sam's mother was there and welcomed us warmly. The steamboat was already ready and we proceeded to eat the delicious spread of food for the next hour.

After dinner we went to Sam's room which contained a huge king-sized bed. He also had a PS2 which Bala and Soon Huat immediately started playing with. The rest of us played Monopoly for about an hour before we got bored and switched to PSPs.

At 9.30pm Jane left and we continued with our games. Sam and I used Friendster and talked about our blogs. At 11pm Nicholas, Shermern and Soon Huat left. Bala and I were staying overnight. Bala continued to play PS2 while Sama and I chatted with Rosie on Messenger. At 12mn we joined Bala and played several rounds of a shooting game. I got killed many times and won only once. Then Sam got sleepy and decided to sleep. Bala continued playing and I read some comics. Finally we went to bed at 2am.

We woke up at 8am. Sam's mother prepared some steam buns and Milo and left for home. Bala and I ate our breakfast and left shortly after. Sam gave me his Logitech webcam which he rarely used. But first we met George and the others at Hougang bus interchange. Sam then took us to a vegetarian restaurant where we had excellent mi fen. We then took bus 161 to Sengkang where we attended prayers at a chinese temple. Shermern and I were fascinated as a Taoist priest kept blowing a horn and cracking a whip several times while chanting prayers.

We then took the LRT to Sengkang MRT station and took the train to Punggol. George parted ways and headed to Sim Lim Square (as usual). We met Nicholas and took bus 85 to Yishun. We then hurried to the Cold Storage in Northpoint only to find that it was closed starting today for renovation. What luck! We then decided to go to Shop and Save at Khatib MRT station. We bought hotdogs bacon and fish. We walked to Nicholas' house which was just a block away.

Nicholas' mum was a friendly lady who took the bags and quickly set the table while Nicholas showed us his room. It was painted in a cooling blue. We then proceeded outside to eat and Nicholas' mum asked about us and and talked about what he had told her about us. We enjoyed the steamboat for about 1 and a half hours and then retreated to his room to play monopoly. I had to leave for swimming soon. So I helped Nicholas install a game onto his notebook.

At about 5pm Nicholas' mum came with some delicious ice-cream. After eating it I left the others to their monopoly game and headed for my swimming class. It was indeed a fruitful day.

Whirlwind Trip

I don't think that I've travelled to so many different places in just under two hours! First we met Nicholas, Shermern and Soon Huat in school. We then took the bus to drop off Wilson at Sam's sinseh grandfather to treat a back injury. We then took a taxi to Christ the King church and waited (ate some rojak) at a nearby coffee shop while Nicholas and Shermern attended Mass.

We then decided to go to Junction 8 for dinner and started walking across Bishan Park to reach it. Halfway Sam decided to take the bus to J8(2 stops away). Upon reaching J8 we realised that every single F&B outlet was overflowing with people. So we decide to go to a coffeeshop outside. But when we were walking past the bus interchange Sam saw a 410 bus pull up and decided to go to Thomson Plaza instead.

So we all rushed into the bus. While travelling in the bus Sam decided not to go to Thomson Plaza after all! We alighted 2 stops after Thomson Plaza and walked to a nearby restaurant where we had a simple dinner for $28. We then chatted for an hour before heading home. What a whirlwind trip!

Valentine's Day and JAE

Today's Valentine's Day. No girlfriend. So what. It's a day for friends too. Went to school early today. Sam had brought some tofu samples from his factory. They tasted excellent all by themselves! Then I watched Mr Bean's Holiday at last on library workroom computer. Jody was revealing all the funny parts before they were shown. Excellent movie. Was much better than the over-Americanized Bean:The Movie in 1997.

Went for lunch at 12.15pm. George and Kee Yong said they were going to NYP. Sam and I went opposite for chicken rice(his treat) and bubble tea(my treat). But we were surprised to see the others there instead of being at NYP. George said he was 'too lazy' to walk there! After lunch I went home.

FIVE more days before JAE posting results are released. I pray hard that I get Mass Communication at NP. Hope Hai Huang gets NYJC as well.

Jam-Packed Day

I went to school today. While waiting for my posting results I am helping my secondary school CCA which is Library. I go to school every Monday Wednesday and Friday. Some students from China were visiting the school and the library was being used to host them. My friend George (the Librarian) and system administrator Kee Yong went for lunch at NYP which was nearby and asked me to come along. The food was surprisingly cheap. Tea at 40 cents and chicken rice at just $1.70! I felt quite uneasy while eating as I was worried whether I was breaking any rules regarding visitors patronising the canteen (I didn't see any sign prohibiting visitor access). The chicken rice at the coffeeshop opposite school suddenly seemed very appetising. Anyway we left as soon as we had finished.

The afternoon was pretty slack as everyone was already in CNY mood. My fellow ex-student and friend Sam had a tough time training one of our new Sec 1 librarians Zachary. He is very mischeivous and is hyperactive. Hope he quietens down (I don't bet on it).

As today is Friday I was going to meet up with other friends who had moved on to ITE and have dinner with them. Since George was planning to buy an amplifier at a warehouse sale he decided to go along with us and later dine at Causeway Point. We took the MRT to Woodlands and walked 15 minutes to the warehouse. Unfortunately the amplifier was sold out. Sadly we took bus 903 back to Causeway point and met up with the others. We went to Jack's Place for dinner. The roast chicken and mushroom soup were really good. We later went to Popular to look at some DVDs for our Library Camp in March. We stayed till closing time. At 10pm we parted and I returned home content with an eventful day.

Boring Day

Today's the first full day without mum around. It feels strange as it is the first time that she will be away for a week. I spent the day helping dad with the household chores. Had an argument with my sister but settled it quickly. I'm spending my time reading up on polytechnic education. Posting results for JAE are out on Feb 19 (tentative). Hope and believe that I will get my first choice of Mass Communication. I needn't be too worried.
